What are the Advantages of extracting ethanol (as a fuel) from fermentation?

Probably only that extraction from fermentation would be from a plant which is a renewable resource and crude oil is not. also less scientifically we can get plants grown in america rather than import and giving money for crude oil from unstable middle eastern nations. the biggest disadvantage is that it takes a lot more energy and time and (therefore cost more) to do the fermentation process when it come from crude oil there is a mixture of hydrocarbons including ethene already present just extract add a OH and your ready to go.
